EFA wants neutral venue for African Champions League final

Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has reportedly asked Confederation of African Football (CAF) to name a neutral venue for this season’s CAF Champions league final.

The competition is at it final stage with the semi-finals starting next week as Al Ahly (Egypt), Petro Luanda (Angola), ES Setif (Tunisia) and Wydad Athletic Club (Morocco) are still in contention for the trophy.

With the games scheduled for next week-end, reports claim the final could be played in a Moroccan stadium as it was the case lasts Season.

Even though CAF did not publish the name of the venue to host the final, EFA have requested the continent’s governing football body not to schedule the final in a country which still has a team in the tournament.

“The Egyptian Football Association contacted CAF in order to stress the importance of choosing a neutral venue for the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup finals,” EFA said.

“In order to have a fair finale for the tournaments, the game shouldn’t be taking place in one of the represented countries [Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Angola].

Saturday, May 7 (First leg)

Petro Luanda vs Wydad AC : 13:00

Al Ahly vs ES Setif : 19:00

Friday, May 19 (Second leg)

ES Setif vs Al Ahly : 13:00

Wydad AC vs Petro Luanda : 19:00
