LIVESTREAMING: Discussions in Parliament over censure motion against the Finance Minister
- Parliament debates on censure motion against Finance Minister
The Ghanaian Parliament is now debating a resolution of censure against Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta that was submitted by the minority side of the chamber.
In a public hearing, an 8-member ad hoc committee that the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, established heard testimony from the motion’s backers and the troubled minister.
Following a debate in the House on the committee’s report, a resolution to vote for censure is anticipated to be approved by secret ballot.
The primary topic of discussion in the House will be whether or not Ken Ofori-Atta should be fired.
The motion against Ken Ofori-Atta is based, among other things, on claims that the minister engaged in egregious economic mismanagement, conflict of interest, and financial irresponsibility.
