“Didier Drogba loses bid to lead Ivorian Football Federation”

Ivorian International Didier Drogba has lost the race  of become the next  president of the Ivory Coast Football Association.

The Chelsea Legend contested the Top seat  with two others Idriss Yacine Diallo, Sory Diabate, which he eventually polled 21 votes in the first round to exit the race.

Yacine Idriss Daillo had the highest number of votes with 59 votes. followed by Sory Diabate with 50 votes in the first round.

The two will contest again in the second round to decide who leads the Federation for the next five years.

Drogba played more than 100 times for the Elephants, including at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, but was told in August 2020 that he was not eligible to stand in the election.

Ivory Coast are two-time champions of Africa, having won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1992 and 2015, and will host the 2023 edition of the Nations Cup.
