Cristiano Ronaldo Honoured By Sporting CP As Academy Named After Juventus Star

Sporting CP have renamed their academy after Cristiano Ronaldo, who came through the club’s youth ranks and played one season in the first team before leaving for Manchester United.

The Portuguese club hope that this decision will serve as an inspiration to all the young players who want to follow in the Juventus forward’s footsteps.

“The good son makes the house and the house that Cristiano Ronaldo made now welcomes his name in honour of the best Portuguese player of all time, the best player in the world, who was awarded with five Ballon d’Or prizes and became captain of the national team, with whom he won the European Championship and Nations League,” read Sporting’s statement.

The pitches at the Academia Cristiano Ronaldo will also be renamed after players who took their first footballing steps at Sporting.
