The full CNN interview with Ghanaian MP Sam George on the anti-LGBT bill
The MP was called by CNN’s journalist via Skype to ask him some questions regarding a bill that is being passed to promote proper sexual and Ghanaian family values.
It appears that Samuel Nartey George, Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, emerged from his CNN interview unscathed and with a strengthened reputation as a defender of Ghanaians’ “culture and values” in relation to the anti-LGBTQ+ bill.
Ghanaian social media is flooded with praise for Sam George, who launched a ferocious defense of some MPs’ decision to sponsor a bill that seeks to criminalize homosexuality in the country.
An apparent attempt by Kenyan-born CNN reporter Larry Madowo to have Sam George choke on his own bill backfired, as the legislator distinguished himself and addressed the issues effectively, in the opinion of most social media viewers.
While some users praised Sam George for clearly articulating his position with well-researched information on the subject, others chastised Larry Madowo for failing to adequately prepare for the interview.
They noticed that Madowo was unfamiliar with the content of the anti-LGBTQ+ bill that served as the basis for the interview.
A CNN reporter’s tweet about the interview was hijacked with words of praise for Sam George and criticism of Madowo for his perceived bias, as well as some of the words he used on Sam George.
