Black Stars To Miss Thomas Partey for AFCON Qualifiers After Injury Scare At Arsenal

Black Stars coach CK Akonnor could miss the service of star player Thomas Partey after the midfielder limped off in the Gunners defeat to Aston Villa in the English Premier League on Sunday.

Partey had to be replaced after the break after he appeared to be in pain following an injury he picked up.

The extent of the injury is yet to be determined as the player is set to undergo scans on Monday.

We don’t know the extent of it, Mikel Arteta revealed. We have to scan him tomorrow or the day after and see what he felt straight away. Let’s wait and see what the magnitude of the injury is.

I don’t know if he will go away with Ghana now. As I said, the doctor will have to have a look at him and probably scan him. Then we will decide what to do with him.

Partey absence was a huge blow for Arsenal as they suffered a second-half collapse, losing three 3-0 at home.

Ghana will play Sudan in a double header AFCON qualifier next week.
