Barcelona secure Champions League spot for the 2022/23 season

FC Barcelona have officially qualified for the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League following their 1-2 win against Real Betis yesterday.

Ansu Fati broke the stalemate in the 75th minute with a goal from the edge of the box, but Real Betis were quick to put a stop to the celebrations four minutes later courtesy of none other than Marc Bartra.

Jordi Alba was not one to be left behind after two La Masia graduates had their name on the scoresheet, and scored the winner in the 94th minute with a wonderful volley.

With the win, Barcelona have retained second place in the league title and have 69 points in 35 games. They could etch their name into the Spanish Super Cup as well by gameweek 37. Earlier, if Sevilla drop more points.

Next up for them is Celta Vigo at the Camp Nou in midweek before they head to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez to lock horns against Getafe. At the end of the day, though, there is evidently not much to play for, which is clear in the team’s performances.
