Listening to Kendrick’s album and realising Naija music fans don’t appreciate me – M.I. Abaga laments

M.I. Abaga, a Nigerian rapper, has expressed his sadness over his people’s lack of appreciation and support for his hip-hop music, as they do for foreign hip-hop artists.

The popular African rapper and record producer, born Jude Lemfani Abaga, known as M.I. Abaga, shared a remark on his social media handle, saying he realised Nigerian music fans don’t really appreciate his music craft after he listened to American rapper Kendrick Lamar’s latest album, “Mr Morale and The Big Steppers”.

M.I.’s song “Crowd Mentality” became popular in Jos, Nigeria, in 2006, propelling him to fame. His debut studio album, Talk About It, was released in 2008. The album was followed by MI 2: The Movie.

Kendrick Lamar is currently in Ghana having a good time after the release of his album “Mr Morale and The Big Steppers”
