Akon sends a touching message to Black Sherif
Senegalese-American singer and record producer, Akon, has gushed about how much he admires Black Sherif, a musician from Ghana.
He claims that he respects the young musician’s extraordinary skill and recognizes his desire to express his emotions via music.
Akon admitted on BBC’s 1xtra that he was unsure about Black Sherif when he first heard about him until he listened to one of his songs and exclaimed, “Wow”.
“I am a huge fan of Black Sherif right now. He reminds me of who I was when coming up. You can hear in his voice the pain, the struggle and the challenges….this is a ghetto kid who wants to get out. He is real,” he said.
Akon continued by saying that if a record company hadn’t brought Black Sherif on, he had intended to bring him to his Konvict Music label.
In addition to his extraordinary skill, he said, “Black Sherif is the voice of the young in Africa”
