A police officer stationed at the Duayaw Nkwanta Police Station in the Ahafo Region has tragically taken his own life while on duty.

The deceased, identified as Sergeant Brown, reportedly shot himself with a service rifle inside the charge office on Friday 5th Sept 2025. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the officer died instantly after firing the weapon beneath his chin.

Although the exact cause of his action remains unknown, sources suggest he was alone at the time of the incident. The development has left his colleagues and residents of the area in deep shock.

Information gathered by OTEC News indicates that Sergeant Brown had served in the Duayaw Nkwanta division for several years. Known by many as a calm and disciplined officer, he married a nurse three years ago, and the couple have one child together.

His body has since been deposited at the Saint John of God Hospital morgue in Duayaw Nkwanta, as police authorities commence investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
