WAEC Releases 2025 BECE Results: 895 Results Cancelled, 1,333 Withheld

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for school candidates. According to WAEC, a total of 603,328 candidates from 20,395 schools across the country sat for the examination.

However, the council has announced that 895 results have been cancelled and 1,333 withheld due to various irregularities during the examination and script marking. The cancelled results comprise 718 candidates with subject results cancelled and 177 with entire results cancelled. On the other hand, 1,240 candidates had their subject results withheld, while 93 had their entire results withheld.

WAEC has assured candidates that their results are secure, tamper-proof, and verifiable. Candidates whose results have been withheld or cancelled can visit the WAEC website to access information on the reason for the action and guidance on the next steps.

The council has also cautioned students and the public to be wary of fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee. WAEC expressed gratitude to stakeholders who supported the successful conduct of the 2025 BECE and release of results.
